Crawling...not standing, or crouching...Crawling

Fri Sep 21, 2007, 6:03 PM
  • Mood: Confused
  • Reading: Machiavelli's The Prince...again.
RULES:
1. Put Your iTunes, Windows Media Player, ETC on Shuffle.
2. For each question, press the next button to get your answer.
3. YOU MUST WRITE THAT SONG NAME DOWN NO MATTER HOW SILLY IT SOUNDS.
4. Put any comments in brackets after the song name.
5.Put this on your journal.

Well, I have...interesting musical preferences, including a whole bunch of songs that are catchy and that I am compelled to listen to, but refuse to admit to doing so...wonder how this is going to turn out.

1.If someone says, "Is this okay?" You say?
Everybody's Fool - Evanescence (Okaaay...is it "No it isn't; You're stupid." or "Every iota of intelligence I ought to have tells me to say no but I say yes."? I opt for the former. But this is ambiguous in a really annoying way...oh well...)

2.How would you describe yourself?
I'm With You - Avril Lavigne (I'm with...me? Or am I clingy...more ambiguity here. Either way, it doesn't really work. Oh, well, next song.)

3.What do you like in a guy/girl?
So Cold - Breaking Benjamin (Argh! This is becoming frustrating...based on this, what am I supposed to like in a girl? Broken spirits? Suicidal tendencies? Do corpses count; are necrophiliac tendencies to be expected? Moving on.)

4.How do you feel today?
Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana (No, no, no. Spirited is the absolute last thing that would describe me today. Sleep deprived? Yes. Slightly fricken' pissed-off at my brother for refusing to get off the computer for three hours? Most definitely. Spirited? No. Next question.)

5.What is your life's purpose?
Neodämmerung - Matrix Revolutions Soundtrack (Interesting...the choral bit in the background is in Sanskrit and translates roughly as:

From delusion lead me to truth
From darkness lead me to light
From death lead me to immortality.

Awesome. Fricken' awesome. *However*: [do not insert your interpretation here]. Thank you. [By the way, the music is great. Download it...or something.])

6.What is your motto?
Hello - Evanescence (Yes...Hello! Nice to meet you! Etc., etc., etc...No! Bad, bad playlist! You deserve another shuffle, now!)

7.What do your friends think of you?
Sleeping Sun - Nightwish (I guess that works...*is befuddled*)

8.What do you think of your parents?
Broken - Seether (*agrees, but declines to comment or offer an interpretation*)

9.What do you think about very often?
I Don't Have - Nickelback (Yes, I covet my neighbor's semi-logical answers. Not much else my neighbor owns, though. My mom covets our neighbors' lush, non-weed infested lawn...I just don't care. At least we're not unleashing enough chemicals on the crabgrass to make Saddam Hussein proud.)

10.What is 2 + 2?
Lacrymosa - Evanescence (I will overlook the illogic of that and remark that "Lacrymosa" is a very attractive, very fun to pronounce word.)

11.What do you think of your best friend?
Pain - Three Days Grace (Whose? That I wonder...then again, she cause quite a lot of pain to her characters...hm...)

12.What do you think of the person you like?
Lithium - Evanescence (They are either very depressed or react explosively with water. Both of which would be amusing in a relationship and I consent to this gladly.)

13.What is your life story?
Circle Backwards - Mark Provart (That's rather depressing...and contains a grain of truth...I do look back on my life as a series of rather un-uplifting failures to seize promising opportunities [But tomarrow, carpe diem]. Nevertheless, I am free to be lonely; autonomy and self-sufficiency have always been values that I've stressed.)

14.What do you want to be when you grow up?
Unknown Soldier - Breaking Benjamin (Uh, no...Seeing how I possess nary a teaspoon of patriotism and...oh no; there's going to be a draft. We are going back into Guadalcanal, the Western Front, Vietnam, and Canada again. At once. That is the only possible explanation...unless the lyrics are to be accounted for, at which point it seems that I will attain Nirvana or by some means transcend reality. Oh, joy.)

15.What do you think of when you see the person you like?
Savin' Me - Nickelback (Am I infatuated with a Jehovah's Witness? I think not. Mind you, I'm not even taking into account the lyrics here...which seem to suggest a rather constructive relationship under a certain definition of "constructive". Ah, well. Arbitrary song selections, I spit upon you and grind you into the dust of the earth with my heel.)

16.What will you dance to at your wedding?
How to Save a Life - The Fray (Dancing. There shall be no dancing. I doubt there will be a wedding. Ever. And if I were to get married, any relationship would be appropriately described with words such as "Platonic", or, worse, "cuckold" and "financial incentive". Mind you, I have nothing against a dramatic life-threating medical emergency at my wedding.)

17.What will they play at your funeral?
Good Enough - Evanescence (:( That is so sad, yet so deep, inspirational, and hopeful at the same time. Citizen Kane comes to mind. *sniff*)

18.What is your hobby/interest?
Somewhere I Belong - Linkin Park (Well, I've always dreamed of traveling the world. Too bad I don't have something more appropriate such as the Elements Song on my playlist.)

19.What is your biggest fear?
Makes Me Wonder - Maroon 5 (Yes, yes...my biggest fear is people discovering that I listen to Maroon 5. Oh, well...it's catchy, and I like it. Poo and aphid-infested roses to anyone who comments on this. For more accurate insight in Hanlin's fears (which are much more complex and have more emotional undertones than a song title can describe), refer to #17. Or, if you must know, I have been afraid of living an unfulfilling, miserable life.)

20.What is your biggest secret?
Haunted - Evanescence (Oh, please. The supernatural...no, not hiding of anything of that sort; the stuff of metaphysics , though, can be afforded curiosity, but only that. I don't consort with the devil or conjure spirits...or anything like that... As for ghosts are their ilk, for more information, consult Spook: Science Tackles the Afterlife by Mary Roach, particularly the part about ghosts and badly-insulated wiring.)

21.What do you think of your friends?
Holiday - Green Day (My friend are...well, I never see them over the holidays...I guess that's one way to look at it, since my friends are not holidays in themselves...I am confused. Any preferably crazy explanations? Do the numerological equivalents of the letters of "Holiday", by some mathematical means, equal some interesting number, perhaps?)

22.What will you post this as?
Crawling - Linking Park

We must blend into the choir, sing as static with the whole
We must memorize nine numbers and deny we have a soul
And to this endless race for property and privilege to be won
We must run, we must run, we must run
